According to the India Meteorological Department, an ‘orange alert has been issued for Delhi and other neighboring locations due to a severe heatwave with temperatures ranging from 44 to 47 degrees Celsius. Haryana, Punjab, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and parts of Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan might be affected by the heatwave.

“Orange alert in Delhi. Severe heatwave from June 4 in Haryana, Punjab, Delhi, UP, and parts of MP, Rajasthan. Temp varying b/w 44°-47°. Shall continue for four more days. We advise people to venture out carefully as heat spells are very severe,” stated RK Jenamani, senior scientist at IMD.

People are frustrated that the monsoon has failed to arrive in Delhi to provide some relief from the searing heat, according to the IMD. Meanwhile, Delhi has been experiencing extreme heat waves in recent days.

On Saturday, Delhi saw searing summer heat, with temperatures reaching 47 degrees Celsius in certain areas. Mungeshpur had the highest temperature of 47.1 degrees Celsius, while Pitampura recorded 46.5 degrees Celsius. Najafgarh’s weather station reported a high temperature of 46.2 degrees Celsius.

The maximum temperature recorded at Ganganagar, Rajasthan, was 47.5 degrees Celsius. Haryana’s Hisar recorded a temperature of 46.8 degrees Celsius. It is predicted that rainfall activity will rise over South Peninsular India from June 7.

The IMD, on the other hand, forecasted no substantial changes in maximum temperatures in most regions of Northwest India over the next several days but promised a promising drop in temperature after two days in Central India.
